Nicole Peres Wins the First Annual Bill Baun Leadership Award

The Bill Baun Leadership Award was created to recognize outstanding wellness leadership in the Tampa Bay Area

Nicole (Nikki) Peres was honored as the first recipient of the WCTB’s first annual Bill Baun Leadership award at the December 2017 annual meeting.  Since 2007, Nikki has served as the Program Manager for Citigroup’s Corporate Fitness Center in Tampa, FL. She received her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Kent State University in 1999 and a master’s degree of Science in Education from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY in 2004.  She also possesses the prestigious American College of Sports Medicine Exercise Physiologist Certification.

Nikki has exemplified the high standards of professionalism at the EXOS Wellness Center at Citigroup

Nikki’s nominator for the award stated, “Nikki has exemplified the high standards of professionalism at the EXOS Wellness Center at Citigroup” and “is recognized as one of the great mentors in this profession.  She has recruited and nurtured talented staff during her career by carefully creating a team based on strengths.



Accomplishments


Since Nikki began her role as manager of the Fitness Center, membership has skyrocketed. Participation in wellness programs, group exercise classes, and customer satisfaction has greatly improved.”  She is a “great leader, wise counselor, and standard bearer of integrity.” Under Nikki’s leadership, the Citigroup Wellness Center has received the American Heart Association’s Gold Achievement Fit Friendly Worksite Award each year for the past six years.


About the Bill Baun Leadership Award


his award was created to honor the memory of Dr. Bill Baun and his numerous contributions to the worksite wellness profession for more than three decades.  As a pioneer and an exemplary leader in worksite wellness, he was best known as an author, speaker, practitioner, educator, and mentor. Dr. Bill Baun described himself as an Achiever, Maximizer, Learner, Arranger, and Activator.  He put special meaning into the phrase “Be Well” in everything he accomplished and all the people he touched.  

This annual award will recognize a Worksite Wellness Professional in the Tampa Bay area who emulates Dr. Bill Baun’s outstanding leadership as a practitioner, educator, and mentor. Each year, the recipient will be invited to receive this award at the WCTB Annual Meeting in December.
